Rick Steves' Rome - Best of Italy - Best of Europe "Hotel Oceania is a peaceful slice of air-conditioned heaven. This 23-room manor house-type hotel is spacious and quiet, with spotless, tastefully decorated rooms, run by Stefano, who still maintains his father Armando's tradition of serving delicious 'world-famous' coffee. He works hard to maintain a caring family atmosphere with a fine staff, and provides lots of thoughtful extra touches."
Lonely Planet Rome Guide "Hidden on the top floor of a 19th-century palazzo near Piazza della Repubblica, the ultra-hospitable Oceania is an excellent choice. In fact, to bag one of the 15 large and tastefully attired rooms you'll have to book early. Service is personal and thoughtful extras such as English newspapers and modem plugs are much appreciated. You might well wonder what you're getting yourself into as the tiny lift rattles up the dark stairwell. Don't worry, your fears will be allayed as soon as you enter the bright and welcoming lobby.
With its red carpet and homely demeanour, it's a welcome break from the bustle of the streets five floors below. It's this cosy, personal approach that sets the Oceania apart from many of its slicker competitors. Which isn't to say that the comforts are lacking - beds are firm, there's satellite TV in every room, the coffee's excellent and the bathrooms, if small, are spotless - it's just that these are not the main reason to come here. You book here for a genuinely warm welcome and quiet, comfortable rooms in graceful surroundings."
Lonely Planet Guide "This small hotel stands out for the unbeatable hospitality offered by the delightful owners Armando and his son Stefano, and nice touches."
Lonely Planet Rome (apps on iTunes) "The homey, quaint Oceania is a welcome break from the bustle of the streets five floors below. It's an intimate, old-fashioned hotel, with 15 bright-walled and colourfully curtained rooms spread over two adjacent apartments. Extras include satellite TV, modem plugs and free internet, excellent coffee and English newspapers. Book early."
